Generally, installation disc is taken for Windows system factory reset. But if there is no installation disc, how to do? Factory reset laptop would make your files and programs lose. These personal files and programs are created or installed after your laptop is originally set up. And before you start system restore, Windows system would prompt you to backup files and programs you want to save. And then you have to make sure you have correct serial numbers and registration information of Windows system and programs for reinstallation process.

In Windows 7 and 8, there is system recovery partition provided. When you want to restore your laptop to factory settings in order to get a fresh and clean start, or get ready to sell it to others, make full use of recovery partition. Step 1: Access to laptop, click Start and type in Recovery in Windows 7 search box.

Boot your PC up again to use this option. You will need to enter the administrator password and language settings if necessary. You can get started by clicking the Get started button under Reset this PC. The laptop should now be turned on.

You can access System Recovery Options by clicking here. You can do this by clicking Start, clicking the arrow next to the Lock button, and then clicking Restart. As the computer restarts, press F8 until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears. If you want the Windows logo to appear on your screen, press F8. You will need your administrative credentials to log in.

Click OK to close the window. You can reformat your hard drive and restore factory-installed software by clicking Yes, then selecting the check box. To lock your computer, click the Lock icon next to the Start menu.

If prompted, press any key on Windows Vista. After loading, enter the password and click "OK" button to begin password recovery. Step 5: Tick the "Change password" and type new password. Click "Next" and then click "Reboot" to restart your computer with new password. Now your password has been successfully changed. Please click "OK" to close it. Then click "Reboot" to restart your computer and regain access to Windows system.
