Tool and die steel
P is a special nonmagnetic, austenitic Mn-Cr-N-steel with a Nickel-content of. X12CrNiMoV, 1. Stainless steels - Part 3: Technical delivery conditions for semi-finished products, bars, rods, wire, sections and bright products of corrosion resisting steels for general purposes. X2CrNiMoV, 1.
X3CrNiMo, 1. X6CrNiMoTi, 1. X5CrNiCuNb, 1. X6CrNiMoNb, 1. X6CrNiCuS, 1. X1NiCrMoCu, 1. X3CrNiCu, 1. Maraging steel. C, It is a modern tool and die steel similar to a alloy , made to Clean Steel Production Technology.
It provides excellent dimensional stability and has been field proven for zinc and aluminum die work, plastic and rubber molds, and for forming all types of sheet metal.
It will accept many forms of surface conditioning, including flame and induction localized hardening, carbide coating, PVD and Nitriding. Because of its high chrome and high carbon, it is the ideal material for many applications where abrasion is a key factor. Typical applications include: blanking dies, shears, cold drawing dies, cams, coining dies, forming rolls and bending dies.
This is a superior quality oil hardening tool steel with exceptional toughness and the ability to develop a high degree of hardness. Should be considered as an upgrade in applications that typically call out for AISI , L-6 or Good allaround tool steel for applications including: collets, threading dies, cam rollers, swages, vise jaws, punches, and die blocks.
Typically, this requires several identical dies to be linked to the same control mechanism so that they can operate in sync with one another. Though there are differences across categories—especially between cutting and forming dies—most dies consist of a similar set of components:. As in electronics, the male component is the protruding component, while the female is the depression or indentation. Except in instances where the operation uses only a simple die, the male portion will likely comprise multiple steel cutting or forming punches with the female portions matching the male pattern.
At Engineering Specialties, Inc. Our team of experienced toolmakers sees each project through from CAD rendering to production using the most advanced CNC equipment available. Our attention to detail at each of these steps allows us to achieve 0. We can create single dies for in-house use or act as a full-service manufacturing partner.
